Back to Challenges

Now that I am working from home, like most people these days, my craft room is now doubling as my office, and I am in my happy place all day. After a well needed tidy I found things I had forgotten I had bought and I was ready to get back to just crafting for fun rather than because I need a card.

So I turned to my usual inspiration, challenges. This card comes from 3 challenges:

I had some fun making the paper for the panels using shaving cream and inks in a couple of different blues. I thinned some gold ink with rubbing alcohol to flick across the card (and my desk, the computer, my water bottle...) using a thin paint brush, then covered in clear embossing powder. The greeting was created in Cricut Design Studio and written in pen, then cut out, with a matching gold frame.

Easter Weekend Challenge card No 3

Card number 3 also used 3 challenges:

I used the Stampin Up "Pleasant Poppies" stamp, which is from 2012-13. I also used the new "Celebrate You" Thinlits (in Cherry Cobbler, old Olive and Daffodil Delight) and the "you" from "Crazy about You" from 2014.

I coloured the poppies with Stampin Blends in Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive. I little bling was added to the tail of the "g" in amazing with a basic jewel.

Easter Weekend Challenge Card No 2

The second card for this weekend used 3 Challenge sites:

I used the Stampin Up "Happy Patterns" Decorative masks and the "Stylised Birthday" stamp.
I used Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise inks all selected from the Card Concept photo.

Easter weekend Challenge Card No 1

It is great when you have long weekend that gives you the chance to play. This card used 3 challenges:

For this card I didn't have a colour challenge, I went to My Create Ink - SU Colour lab to use a suggested combination. After clicking "surprise me", the combination was Sweet Sugar Plum, Wild Wasabi, Tranquil Tide, Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake.

Here is my card:
I used "Move Me" with it's matching framelits for the birds and background (which was stamped in Versamark) and "Beautiful Day" for the greeting.

Thank you to the designers for their inspiration on these challenges.

One Layer Flower Card

my second card for the weekend also has inspiration from three challenges:
When I saw the masking challenge and the One Layer Wonder they had to go together and the sketch and photo brought it all together with the colours coming from the photo.

The Flowers were from Stampin Up's "Reason to Smile", with the greeting from "Bring on the Cake". It was a weekend for bringing out the old stamps. The colours in this card are Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso and Tuxedo Black. The flowers were coloured with Blendabilities (another retired product) Blush, Nude and Calypso Coral. The base card is Thick Whisper White.

This one was a lot of fun to make.

A Cuppa Tea Challenge Card

This weekend I was lucky to have some time to make 2 cards. This first one used 3 challenges for Inspiration:
This card used the Stampin Up "A Cuppa Tea" stamp set and Cups and Kettle Framelits. This set was from January 2016. The background used the little splatter stamp from "Timeless Texture.

The colours used were Night of Navy, Early Espresso, Watermelon Wonder and Baked Brown Sugar.

Party Pandas

This weeks challenge card has inspiration from 3 challenges:

I used the new stamp set from the Stampin Up Sale-A-Bration catalogue called Party Pandas.
This card uses Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red and Smoky Slate card and ink. The background has the panda stamped in various directions in Versamark, although it is a little hard to see in the photo. The greeting is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous.

Thank you to the designers of these challenge sites for their on-going inspiration and helping me to keep my creativity going.
